Elke Blanchard strives to create lessons for children that integrate both the orthography and rich vocabulary of our English language. Oral language practice that promotes complete and complex thoughts is essential to all of her instruction. The power of reading and writing fuels her determination, creativity and perseverance as she teaches students ages five to 65. Elke’s business background allows her to envision new and strategic ways to teach all students to be successful, independent learners. She joined the Literacy How team in 2004. Elke holds a B.S. from Syracuse University, Special Education certification from Central Connecticut State University, and remedial reading certification from Teachers College, Columbia University. She is a Certified Academic Language Therapist and an IDA-certified Structured Literacy Dyslexia Specialist.
